The International Society for Jazz Arrangers & Composers announced its formation and launched its website. Chuck is serving as its founding president – joined by founding VPs Dave Stamps & Brian Coyle and a very prestigious Board. The Society also announced the return of the Jazz Composers’ Symposium to be held at USF in May of 2017.
Chuck embarks on the third lecture tour in conjunction with his ambitious “River Runs” recording, this time visiting the north central US. Scheduled visits include:
Gustavos-Adolphus College, Univ. of Minnesota, Univ. of Wisconsin – Madison, Univ. of Wisconsin – La Crosse, and Univ. of Northern Iowa.
Just completed work on a commission for the terrific USAF Dimensions in Blue. . . . a challenging, no-holds-barred, work entitled, “Into the Blue”.
Following on the heels of his appearance with the Aarhus Jazz Orch., Chuck is arranging several of the works of the ensemble’s noted composer/tenor saxophonist, Michael Bladt, for an upcoming CD. Michael will be recording with his small group enhanced by a woodwind quintet (in which he will play all of the parts!). Release is anticipated for Nov. of 2015.
The CCM Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble combined forces to offer a stunning performance of the work under the remarkable direction of Aik Khai Pung and Scott Belck. Featured soloists Corey Christiansen, Rick Van Matre, & Suzanna Barnes just killed it!
